Birchbox is a monthly subscription box for beauty products (Birchbox Men’s also available). I am so excited for the May 2019 box! I keep saying that BIRCHBOX has quickly become my favorite subscription box for the products they offer and you will be able to see why in the sneak peeks below!

Typically for your monthly subscription box, you have three choices of boxes but for May you will have four! The selections open on 04/26 and the curated boxes tend to go fast.

You can choose a sample and the rest Birchbox chooses, Curated Box 1, or Curated Box 2. This month, they added the Skincare Made Easy Kit as a box option that I reviewed here:
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/30/birchbox-the-skincare-made-easy-kit-review/

Option 1: Choose of the three Sample Choice Options (and the rest of the box items as mystery items): jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in Forever Pink, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, & Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle.

Option 2: Curated Box 1: Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, amika Velveteen Dream Smoothing Balm, Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray, Lipstick Queen Mornin’ Sunshine Lipstick, & Marcelle Xtension Plus Skyline Mascara.

Option 3: Curated Box 2: Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer – Doe My Dear, Moroccanoil Treatment Light – 1.7 oz., Real Chemistry Environmental Rescue Daily Serum, beautyblender beauty.blusher cheeky, Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS HydraPlump Plumping Liquid Lipstick, & Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Face Highlighter

Option 4: The Skincare Made Easy Kit: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye, Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution – 500 ml, Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment, Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel, Acure Radically Rejuvenating™ Sheet Mask, Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment – 1.7 oz., HUM Nutrition Glow Sweet Glow Gummies, COOLA® Classic Moisturizer SPF 30 – Cucumber, PETER THOMAS ROTH Water Drench® Hyaluronic Cloud Cream – This kit is no longer available to purchase separately since they have an updated kit so I believe this is last chance on this one!

Normally I just review after I receive the products but I was so excited when I saw the preview today! Typically I have just chose and sample and let Birchbox fill in the rest because they do such an amazing job but I love all of these options! I would even take a 2nd Skincare Made Easy Kit because it has such good products that I have put to use!

Birchbox – Review #4

Birchbox has quickly became my favorite monthly subscription box! They really have great brands and products that I have wanted to try and I truly get excited when I see their monthly curated boxes.

You can read my previous reviews of the Birchbox subscription boxes here:
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/11/birchbox-review-1/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/11/birchbox-review-2/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/14/birchbox-review-3/

All boxes are coded since there are a few different boxes they send every month. This particular box is coded 38826 and included a free bonus product.

This box included six items plus a freebie I signed up for so I received seven products in total. Look at these brands: Sunday Riley, Oribe, Ouai, Marcelle, Love of Color, Peter Thomas Roth, & Benefit Cosmetics!

Item 1: Love of Color – Liquid Shimmer Shadow in Eclipse – Full-size price $10.00 – This is a long-lasting crease-free liquid shadow that is metallic rose gold. This is a Birchbox EXCLUSIVE! It is cruelty & paraben free. https://www.birchbox.com/product/30859

Item 2: Marcelle – City Multi-Protection Tinted Cream SPF 25 in Fair – Full-size $22.00 – I have put a small swatch of the cardboard below. This product is really creamy but I have not used it yet so I don’t know how well it protects.
https://www.birchbox.com/product/31508

100% paraben & oil free. Made in Canada.

Item 3: Oribe – Dry Texturizing Spray – Full-size $46.00 – I was so excited when I realized that this product was going to be in our monthly box. It is part dry shampoo and part texturizer that absorbs oil, softens hair, & adds shine. Paraben, phthalate, sulfate, & cruelty free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2UxmbCY

Item 4: OUAI – Volume Spray – Travel-size $12.00 – This ia a heat protectant that adds body to your hair. I currently have this brand of Leave-In Conditioner and the smell is exactly the same which I like. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2IiELrH

Item 5: Peter Thomas Roth – Potent-C Bright & Plump Moisturizer – Full-size $68.00 – I haven’t tried this yet as I’m working through other products. I have some of their other products & really like this brand though. This particular moisturizer is supposed to be lightweight, diminish fine lines, boost elasticity, and lock in hydration. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2G3riQY

Item 6: Sunday Riley – Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil – Full-size $105.00 – This is a retinol oil that reduces the appearance of pores, wrinkles, & redness over time. It is Blue Tansy and will go from a deep blue color to clear. Paraben, phthalate, sulfate, & cruelty free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2X78nvy

Item 7: BONUS ITEM – Benefit Cosmetics – GALifornia Sunny Golden Pink Blush Mini – Mini-price $16.00 – I was able to add this on as a free bonus product in my box. It comes with a mini brush and has a mirror in the box. https://amzn.to/2GjMlA6

The box and brush are just beautiful! Made in the USA.

Birchbox recently restructured their prices in March of 2019. The new monthly cost will be $13.00 for existing subscribers & $15.00 for new subscribers. With the company changing their pricing structure, they are also bringing more choices & new brands. I still think that this box is an incredible value for the curated products.

I truly have been impressed with the quality and value of the products from Birchbox. If this is something you would like to try, please use my link below.

Birchbox – ARROW 5 Minute Beauty Kit 2.0 – Review

I really wanted to try out the ARROW 5 Minute Beauty Kit 2.0 to see if this would really be a 5 Minute Kit. We often run late in the mornings and don’t have a lot of time to get ready but still want to wear some products. After trying this, I truly love this kit!

All of ARROW’s products are vegan & are paraben, gluten, & cruelty free. The six piece kit costs $18.00 & has a $57.00 value. All of these ARROW products are Birchbox Exclusives. https://www.birchbox.com/product/35851

Item 1: The makeup bag is made of a material that reminds me of a foam. It seems like a higher quality that won’t easily break.

Item 2: ARROW HYDRATE – Soothing Facial Mist – The sprayer on this works very well, so well I sprayed myself really hard in the face. It sprays out wide so you don’t have to use a lot to get coverage. This is going to be great when it is hot outside! Made in the USA.

Item 3: ARROW SCULPT – Tinted Brow Gel – This gel has a darker brown color which you can see a bit on the paper in the first picture below. Even though the container is small, the brush is still a regular size which is nice. Made in the USA.

Item 4: ARROW ENHANCE – Waterproof Eyeliner in Bright Now – This is interesting in it’s color but I really like it. It is the lightest shade of pink and has a shine to it which gives a brightening effect. Made in Germany.

Item 5: ARROW BOOST – Color Enhancing Lip Balm – The stick looks orange but goes on so smooth with a slight pink tint. It gives just the slightest bit of color which is perfect. Made in the USA.

Item 6: ARROW REVIVE – Cooling Cheek Tint in Berry Flush – This is such an interesting product. It comes out of the tube blood red but rubbed in really smoothly on the checks and blended well. I don’t know if it was actually supposed to have a cooling effect because I couldn’t feel that. This sample is super tiny but I am definitely purchasing this in the larger size. Made in the USA.

I think this is a perfect set for a teen or even an adult like me who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup. Everything in this kit goes together well. I felt put together after using it but didn’t feel like I stood out either which is what I prefer.

Kits are a great way to step out of your comfort zone and try new things without spending a ton of money on something to find out you don’t like it. Then you have times like these that you like the products so well, it lets you know that it’s worth it to buy the full size product.

If you would like to try out the Birchbox monthly subscription box, I would appreciate it if you used my link below.

Birchbox – The Skincare Made Easy Kit – Review

The Legal Disclosure: All product reviews are my own & products have been purchased by myself unless otherwise noted. The reviews will always be honest, full of respect & trust. Some posts may contain affiliate links which means that if you click on the link & make a purchase, I may be compensated (this is at no cost to you). Not all links are affiliate links but will post this on every linked page to be fully transparent. If you would like to learn about how I do a product review or info about subscription services, please comment below or email me at esoterictartan@gmail.com.

I ordered ‘The Skincare Made Easy Kit’ from Birchbox and I’m so excited about the products in it. The kit is no longer available but I’m going to individually link all of the products below. It was an incredible value at $22.00 with $56.00 worth of products.

I am one who is interested in trying different products but don’t always know how to use everything & wonder what order to use them in. I really wanted this kit because it came with so many products. The website stated this was “skincare 101” – “by starting with four simple steps (cleanse, treat, moisturize, and protect) and using the complementary products in this starter kit, we’re confident you can build a routine that works best for you.”

I’m going to go through everything that came in this kit and what step it falls under. Some steps came with more than one item to try for that particular step which is why I was so excited to get it.

There are a total of nine items plus the clear zipper makeup bag in this kit.

(Step 1: Cleanse) Item 1: Bioderma – Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution – Full-size $10.90-$14.90 – This is a no-rinse face & eye cleanser that is fragrance free & made for sensitive skin. It is quite a large bottle for a sample size at 3.33 fl oz. Made in France. https://amzn.to/2I1rzGJ

(Step 1: Cleanse) Item 2: Avene – Cleanance Cleansing Gel – Full-size $20.00 – This is a soap-free face & body cleansing gel made for oily, blemish-prone skin. Made in France. https://amzn.to/2YCgcuL

(Step 2: Treat) Item 3: Sunday Riley – Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment – Full-size $105.00 – This product is an exfoliant that plumps fine lines, evens out hyperpigmentation, and boosts your skin’s glow. I cannot wait to try it because I’ve heard wonderful things about Sunday Riley products. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2FKa1xw

(Step 2: Treat) Item 4: Acure – Radically Rejuvenating Sheet Mask – Full-size $4.99 – This is a 100% vegan & cruelty free sheet mask made with argan oil & hyaluronic acid. It is paraben, sulfate, phthalate, mineral oil, petrolatum & silicone free. Made in the USA of domestic & global ingredients & components. https://amzn.to/2FwG8za

(Step 2: Treat) Item 5: Sand & Sky – Australian Pink Clay Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment – Full-size $42.90 – This is an exfoliator that you massage on and leave for five minutes. It is not tested on animals. I have used their purple mask before and really thought it worked well. https://amzn.to/2FIVxha

(Step 3: Moisturize) Item 6: Peter Thomas Roth – Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream – Full-size $52.00 – This is an oil-free moisturizer for all skin types that gives hydration for up to 72 hours. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2JQL5bM

(Step 3: Moisturize) Item 7: Kiehl’s – Midnight Recovery Eye – Full-size $37.00 – This is a restorative eye cream that minimizes lines, puffiness, and dark circles overnight. Made in the USA.

(Step 4: Protect) Item 8: Coola – Classic Moisturizer SPF 30 in Cucumber – Full-size $32.00 – 70%+ organic sunscreen for your face that protects from both UVA & UVB rays. Made in the USA with globally sourced ingredients. https://amzn.to/2YCdKnZ

(Bonus) Item 9: Hum Nutrition – Glow Sweet Glow Gummies – Full-size $25.00 – These are vegan gummies that promote a healthy complexion. They are made with hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, & Vitamin E. GMO, gluten, & soy free. These were a tangerine flavor and I really like them. Product of Canada. https://amzn.to/2FCiOjS

I was very pleased with this entire kit! I know this particular one is no longer available but Birchbox has several curated kits like this that I encourage you to check out. If you would like to sign up for the Birchbox monthly subscription box, I would appreciate it if you use my link below.

This is a review of the March box for Birchbox.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that comes with 5 sample size beauty products. It is a great value at only $10 a month.

You can read my 1st review here: https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/11/birchbox-review-1/

You can read the 2nd review here: https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/11/birchbox-review-2/

All boxes have a five digit code on the box. This March box had the code of 38522.

The March theme is ‘The Future Starts Now’ to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Item 1: Comfort Zone – Active Pureness Fluid – Full-size price $43 – This is a ‘mattifying hydrating fluid’ which is just a moisturizer with mattifying powders to be a base for makeup.

I have not opened the seal on this yet since I have so many moisturizers at the moment. I’m excited to try in the future though. It is made in Italy.

Item 2: basd – Body Wash in Invigorating Mint – Full-size price $15.99 – I love the smell of this and the fact that it is made with plant-based (‘basd’) ingredients. The smell does not stay with you though as it immediately dissipated when I got out of the shower.  https://amzn.to/2HBmjKE

This product is made in Canada.

Item 3: Beachwaver Co. – Great Barrier Heat Protection Hairspray – Full-size price $28 – This s a very light clean floral scent. It is a Hold Level 1.

It is supposed to “strengthen strands, offer flexible hold, and defend hair against damage from heat styling and environmental aggressors.” Free of parabens, formaldehyde, sulfate, mineral oil, benzophenone, and phthalates. It is also Cruelty Free & Vegan.

Item 4: Love of Color (LOC) – EXCLUSIVE – One & Done Shadow Stick in Champagne Problems – Full-size price $10 – This is a waterproof Shadow Stick. The color is almost rose gold with more of a hint of silver.

I put a Swatch on my hand and then washed my hands twice. The color was still on there so it does stay on pretty well. Made in Germany.

Item 5: thisworks – Deep Sleep Pillow Spray – Full-size price $29 – The scent is a mix of lavender and chamomile. The smell is strong and wouldn’t be for everyone but I like it.  https://amzn.to/2JyXdOq

Made in the Czech Republic.

One neat thing about this box as I was able to customize one thing since it was my first regular billing box. I don’t remember what all the options were but I chose the pillow spray.

All Birchbox “boxes” come in a distinctly designed thick weight box which are nice to keep to use for other things. I store my travel size products in them in our linen closet.

Birchbox is the women’s version of Birchbox man. It is a monthly subscription box.

The boxes are normally $10 a month and come with 5 sample size beauty products. I was able to get a buy one, get one free so this is the second review out of two.

You can read review number one here: https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/11/birchbox-review-1/

I will be reviewing box 34274 which is the Bonus Welcome Box.

Here’s a first look at my bonus box which came with six items.

The card that comes with the box is letting you know that you are receiving samples and how to personalize upcoming boxes.

The card did not include what was in the box so you might receive different items than myself.

Item 1: Birchbox Accessories – Eyelash Curler – This seems like it is decent quality made up of 70% Carbon Steel and 30% Silicone. Made in China.

Item 2 – Avene – Hydrance Intense Rehydrating Serum – This says to apply as a base for daily skincare.  https://amzn.to/2OlYC9D

The smell is okay, just like an unscented lotion. Made in France.

Item 3: Wilma Schumann European Skin Care – Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads – contains 1 pair – Full-size $18 – This is the same item that was in the February box. These pads are made with collagen to hydrate, de-puff, and plump your under-eye area. https://amzn.to/2CBOUvo

It is a hydration booster that is not tested on animals. It is made for all skin types.

Item 4: Liquid Blendercleanser – Beauty Tool Cleanser – This packet contains liquid cleanser that is made to soak out stains from your makeup sponges and brushes.  https://amzn.to/2CBZ5Qo

This product is made in the USA

Item 5: Nelson J Beverly Hills – Forever Smooth Creme with Heat Protection – I received a similar product from the same brand in the Bless Box. I’ve really liked that product so far so I’m excited to try this one.

It is an Argan Oil 7 natural formula that is supposed to help straighten curls. Made in USA.

Item 6: Coastal Scents – Blush and Bronzer Palette – The sample says it’s an exclusive sample that includes one blush and one highlighter.  https://amzn.to/2Yi3gKD

I don’t typically wear makeup but my teenager will love this.

This product is made in China.

Again, I was really pleased with this box, especially getting it as a completely free sample box.

If this is something that you would be interested in, please click the link below. I do not know if you receive anything by using my link. Birchbox is the women’s version of Birchbox man. It is a monthly subscription box.

The boxes are normally $10 a month and come with 5 sample size beauty products. I was able to get a buy one, get one free so this is the first review out of two.

The bag says ‘Birchbox Man’ on it but it did it contain both of the women’s boxes.

Each box has another box inside of it which is kind of wasteful but at the same time I understand why they do this to separate them.

Each box comes with their own code. I will be reviewing box 38273 which is the February box.

This is the first look I had at my February box which contains five samples.

The box came with a card for the month. Since this was the February box, it was about love.

On the back of the card it shows all of the products included in the box along with the cost of the product if you bought it at full size.

Item 1: Beauty Protector – Protect & Detangle – Full-size $23.50 – This is a leave-in conditioner that helps detangle your hair and prevent color from fading. It also protects against UV rays and heat styling.  https://amzn.to/2JxRIQ8

This product is paraben and sulfate-free. It does not show a country of origin.

Item 2: Eyeko London – Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in black – Full-size $22 – This is a .04 oz liquid eyeliner. It says it is precise, smudge-proof, and in the color of pitch black. This product is made in China.  https://amzn.to/2US13Dp

Item 3: Juara – Candlenut Body Creme – Full-size $35 – This is a small lotion that says it has a Bali inspired fragrance. It definitely smells summery almost like coconut. It is free of parabens, phthalate, and harsh chemicals. It is a vegetarian product.  https://amzn.to/2U1TBbQ

I put a small amount on my hands to try it and don’t really feel that much difference but it does smell good. Made in the USA.

Item 4: Marcelle – City 24H Anti-Pollution Day & Night Moisturizing Emulsion – Full-size $24 – This product is to help protect against dullness and dehydration. It smells good when first coming out of the bottle but quickly dissipates.  https://amzn.to/2USX8pM

The product is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, paraben-free, and non-comedogenic. Made in Canada.

Item 5: Wilma Schumann European Skin Care – Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads – contains 1 pair – Full-size $18 – These pads are made with collagen to hydrate, de-puff, and plump your under-eye.  https://amzn.to/2USXsVw

It is a hydration booster that is not tested on animals. It is made for all skin types.

I really enjoyed looking and trying all the different products in this box. There were some product lines in this box that I had not heard of and that’s why these sample boxes are so great.

If this is something that you would be interested in, please click the link below. I do not know if you receive anything by using my link.
