Birchbox has quickly became my favorite monthly subscription box! They really have great brands and products that I have wanted to try and I truly get excited when I see their monthly curated boxes.

You can read my previous reviews of the Birchbox subscription boxes here:

https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/11/birchbox-review-2/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/14/birchbox-review-3/

All boxes are coded since there are a few different boxes they send every month. This particular box is coded 38826 and included a free bonus product.

This box included six items plus a freebie I signed up for so I received seven products in total. Look at these brands: Sunday Riley, Oribe, Ouai, Marcelle, Love of Color, Peter Thomas Roth, & Benefit Cosmetics!

Item 1: Love of Color – Liquid Shimmer Shadow in Eclipse – Full-size price $10.00 – This is a long-lasting crease-free liquid shadow that is metallic rose gold. This is a Birchbox EXCLUSIVE! It is cruelty & paraben free. https://www.birchbox.com/product/30859

Item 2: Marcelle – City Multi-Protection Tinted Cream SPF 25 in Fair – Full-size $22.00 – I have put a small swatch of the cardboard below. This product is really creamy but I have not used it yet so I don’t know how well it protects.
https://www.birchbox.com/product/31508

100% paraben & oil free. Made in Canada.

Item 3: Oribe – Dry Texturizing Spray – Full-size $46.00 – I was so excited when I realized that this product was going to be in our monthly box. It is part dry shampoo and part texturizer that absorbs oil, softens hair, & adds shine. Paraben, phthalate, sulfate, & cruelty free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2UxmbCY

Item 4: OUAI – Volume Spray – Travel-size $12.00 – This ia a heat protectant that adds body to your hair. I currently have this brand of Leave-In Conditioner and the smell is exactly the same which I like. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2IiELrH

Item 5: Peter Thomas Roth – Potent-C Bright & Plump Moisturizer – Full-size $68.00 – I haven’t tried this yet as I’m working through other products. I have some of their other products & really like this brand though. This particular moisturizer is supposed to be lightweight, diminish fine lines, boost elasticity, and lock in hydration. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2G3riQY

Item 6: Sunday Riley – Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil – Full-size $105.00 – This is a retinol oil that reduces the appearance of pores, wrinkles, & redness over time. It is Blue Tansy and will go from a deep blue color to clear. Paraben, phthalate, sulfate, & cruelty free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2X78nvy

Item 7: BONUS ITEM – Benefit Cosmetics – GALifornia Sunny Golden Pink Blush Mini – Mini-price $16.00 – I was able to add this on as a free bonus product in my box. It comes with a mini brush and has a mirror in the box. https://amzn.to/2GjMlA6

The box and brush are just beautiful! Made in the USA.

Birchbox recently restructured their prices in March of 2019. The new monthly cost will be $13.00 for existing subscribers & $15.00 for new subscribers. With the company changing their pricing structure, they are also bringing more choices & new brands. I still think that this box is an incredible value for the curated products.

I truly have been impressed with the quality and value of the products from Birchbox. If this is something you would like to try, please use my link below.

Ipsy Glam Bag Plus – Review #1

The Legal Disclosure: All product reviews are my own & products have been purchased by myself unless otherwise noted. The reviews will always be honest, full of respect & trust. Some posts may contain affiliate links which means that if you click on the link & make a purchase, I may be compensated (this is at no cost to you). Ipsy is a monthly subscription for beauty products that has a Glam Bag that is $10.00 and a Glam Bag Plus that is $25.00. The Glam Bag PLUS comes with five full sized products.

We have received the Ipsy Glam Bags for a year but this is our first time getting the PLUS so we were excited to see what items we would receive. You can read my regular Ipsy Glam Bag reviews here:
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/02/16/ipsy-review-1-ipsy-ipsy/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/17/ipsy-review-2/

The April 2019 Glam Bag Plus is about Fresh Spring Beauty.

I feel we got a nice assortment of products for me and my two teens to try. I am more into skincare where they enjoy the makeup products.

Item 1: IT Cosmetics – Heavenly Skin Skin-Smoothing Complexion Brush #704 – Retail Value $48.00 – This brush is touted as the brush that does it all. It “gives makeup products an airbrushed finish, blurring away fine lines & pores.” Per their website, this brush features “patent-pending Heavenly Skin™ hair infused with anti-aging collagen, silk, peptides, niacin, and antioxidants.” Cruelty free product. https://amzn.to/2IhiDhA

Item 2: Paris Hilton Skincare – ProD.N.A. Dual-Action Cleansing Gel – Retail Value $29.00 – This is a cleansing gel “with exfoliating caviar lime & pineapple-derived enzymes.” I felt it worked good and it smells clean. I personally didn’t care for this particular smell but it isn’t strong so it wasn’t bad. Made in the USA and a cruelty free product. https://amzn.to/2IfuoVR

Item 3: Goldfaden MD – Bright Eyes (Dark Circle Radiance Concentrate) – Retail Value $55.00 – This eye cream is ultra light and goes on so smoothly. It is a brightening eye cream that is supposed to deliver hydration to the eye area. https://amzn.to/2Db0dej

This product is free of parabens, petrochemicals, mineral oils, alcohol, silicone, and gluten. This is a vegetarian formula with organic and natural ingredients. It is dermatologist tested for all skin types and is made in the USA.

Item 4: Benefit Cosmetics – High Brow Eyebrow Highlighter – Retail Value $22.00 – This is a creamy highlighting brow pencil. I tried in on my hand and it has a matte finish. It went on smoothly and is very natural looking. https://amzn.to/2KwKdsW

“This creamy eyebrow highlighter accentuates arches for brighter, boosted, and younger-looking eyes.” Made in Germany.

Item 5: Laura Sanchez – Moods Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette – Retail Value $55.00 – This was definitely the winner from the box (according to my teens). They loved the bold colors for Spring & Summer with a mix of matte & metallic shades.
https://laurasanchezmakeup.com/en/tienda/beauty/moods-laura-sanchez-2/

This palette is versatile and made in the USA.

I enjoyed our first Glam Bag Plus and felt there was a good value of products (Retail Value totaling $189.00) for only $25.00. There was a waitlist for the Glam Bag Plus but I believe they just opened this up to everyone.

If you would like to try the Ipsy Glam Bag ($10.00 for an exlusive makeup bag & five trial size products) or the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus ($25.00 for five full size products), please use my link below.

GlossyBox (April 2019) – Review #2

Glossy Box is a monthly subscription box that comes with five premium beauty products that are worth over $60.00. The monthly cost is $21.00.

These boxes come packaged so nicely! I appreciate the effort they put into making each one look as nice as it does.

The sheet that comes with it tells about the monthly box and gives a preview of the next box.

The sheet then opens up to reveal all of the products included for the month. We received seven items, six different products. The Kiehl’s sample came with 2 of the same sample because they are tiny.

Item 1: Derma E – Overnight Peel – Full-size price $18.99 – This is an exfoliating cream that you are supposed to leave on overnight & wash off in the morning. I have not had a chance to try this product but I have used other Derma E products and like them. This product is vegan friendly, has non-abrasive Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s), cruelty free, & GMO free. https://amzn.to/2CZnTlK

Item 2: BYBI – Plumper – Natural Lip Balm – $14.00 – This a lip balm that plumps & moisturizes. It is in a sugarcane eco-friendly tube with 100% all natural ingredients.

The product comes out like a thick cream but instantly melts on your lips and leaves them shiny. It has a pleasant scent and you definitely feel it tingle. This product is vegan & cruetly free. Made in the UK (country not specified).
https://bybi.com/products/plumper-lip-balm

Item 3: Juice Beauty – Phyto-Pigments Shadow Stick in Mist – $22.00 – This is an eyeshadow stick that has built in anti-aging ingredients. It really creamy and go on so smooth.

You can see a little of the color on the paper below. Formulated with 0rganic ingredients, cruelty free, & vegan. Free of talc, gluten, acrylates, parabens, glycols, peg’s, artificial dyes, & synthetic fragrances. https://amzn.to/2UCqEmS

Item 4: John masters Organics – Conditioner for Normal Hair w/Citrus & Neroli –
Full-size price $19 – This conditioner smells so good! This is supposed to add volume and shine to your hair while also nourishing. It is silicone free and made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2D1sLqB

Item 5: John Masters Organics – Shampoo for Normal Hair w/Lavender & Rosemary –
Full-size price $19.00 – This smells even better than the conditioner. I like it that they go together but can have their own scents. This provides shine and is sulfate free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2UBnsYH

Item 6: Kiehl’s – Glow Formula Skin Hydrator – Full-size price $38.00 – I am a huge fan of Kiehl’s products so I am super excited to received two of these! The formula has an orange tint to it to give a subtle glow. The scent is different and hard to explain but not bad. https://amzn.to/2Um5RVz

I really love this particular GlossyBox because I prefer all natural products. I especially appreciate when products are cruelty free and plant based.

Glossy Box is a monthly subscription box that comes with five premium beauty products that are worth over $60.00. I was really happy to see some of the brands featured in this and previous boxes such as Briogeo, Doucce, Laneige, Daily Concepts, GlamGlow, Juice Beauty, Kiehl’s, Derma-E, etc..

Everything comes so nicely packaged and you really feel like you are opening a treat!

The large fold out brochure takes you through all of your items along with tips for the products and discount codes.

Item 1: Yensa – Tone Up Primer Essential Glow – $15.00 – This product is sealed (which is always a good thing!) so I have not tried it out yet. It is a lightweight primer that helps smooth out fine lines & wrinkles. Made in Korea. https://amzn.to/2WPo0Yw

Item 2: DWTN Paris – Eau De Teint Highlighter – $25.00 – This ia a powdered cream highlighter that was created in Paris. Certified vegan & 97% natural. This has a beautiful rose gold tint that blends in so smoothly. Even though this container is tiny, this doesn’t take much to go a long way. https://amzn.to/2WNM3ac

Item 3: Manna Kadar Beauty – Step 3 Bloom Volumizing Mascara in Jet Black – $29.00 – This has a very unique wand that is designed to capture mascara between each individual groove of the fiber bristles. When I first opened it, there was a lot of gooped up product. Once I wiped it off, the product came out cleanly. I don’t think it volumized but I did like how it separated the lashes. Made in China. https://amzn.to/2OSWSoE

Item 4: Briogeo – Don’t Despair, Repair! Strength + Moisture Leave-In Mask – $14.00 – This is a formula of argan oil which helps restore the hair cuticle. This is cruelty free & a 95% naturally derived formula. There are no sulfates, silicones, or parabens. It kind of has a salon smell but it’s not my favorite. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2IiIVPF

Item 5: Nuria – Rescue Rebalancing Cleanser – $26.00 – This cleanser comes out as a clear gel and smells nice. Please note, this product says it contains an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that can increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun so it recommends you wear a sunscreen. Made with mandarin orange, rice water, seaweed, loquat, & rosehip oil. Paraben, sulfate, & phthalate free. Made in the USA of US and imported ingredients.

I was really pleased with the products that came in my first GlossyBox and I can’t wait to use more of them.

GlossyBox has some really neat items like the Mother’s Day Limited Edition Box, the Easter Egg, special holiday boxes, etc. They have a rewards system that you can earn credits on their website for doing surveys (reviews of your products).

Joyfolie Website – Review #2

Joyfolie is an online retail company that sells women & girls clothing, shoes, & accessories.

Each month, Joyfolie sends a free gift with your purchase that you have to add to your cart. I forgot to add mine (see my first review) so I reached out to the company. I will say, their customer service is top notch!
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/27/joyfolie-review-1/

To make up for MY mistake, the offered to send the free flip-flops which were the March gift. Instead of just one pair, they sent my daughter and I matching pairs of sandals with matching sunglasses!

This was great customer service from the company and I really appreciate them doing this. My daughter was so excited!

Items 1 & 2: Verena flip-flops in Olive & Gold – size 3/4 for girls & size 8 in womens – Retail value $18.50 per pair – The sandals are super cute and are from their new Spring Collection. I love this color combo!

Items 3 & 4: Scarlett Sunnies in Black – Retail Value $22.50 per pair – These are so cute! I didn’t know how comfortable they would be on the face not having tried this style but they really are comfortable. They come in their own cute drawstring pouch.

I will say it again, I love this website and their clothing. The customer service just made them even better! I still have my fingers crossed they will up their sizing and start making clothing in plus sizes.

I encourage you to check out their site if you are looking for items that you can’t buy everywhere. You can sign up for free to become an Insider so you can receive 10% off your first purchase, get the free monthly gift, and stay up to date on their items!

Nadine West – Review #4

The Legal Disclosure: All product reviews are my own & products have been purchased by myself unless otherwise noted. The reviews will always be honest, full of respect & trust. Some posts may contain affiliate links which means that if you click on the link & make a purchase, I may be compensated (this is at no cost to you). Not all links are affiliate links but will post this on every linked page to be fully transparent. If you would like to learn about how I do a product review or info about subscription services, please comment below or email me at esoterictartan@gmail.com.

Nadine West is a monthly women’s clothing subscription. I really like Nadine West for their price-point. You also have the option to get a bag every two weeks instead of four weeks if you would like to increase your frequency.

I have reviewed this bag three other times, one we loved and two not as much. You can read those reviews here:
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/02/08/nadine-west-review-1/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/02/nadine-west-review-2/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/03/nadine-west-review-3/

We received four items in this package along with the option to buy a gift card. There is no styling fee but they do charge a shipping fee of $9.78 that will be applied to anything you purchase.

Item 1: Blossom by P. – Infinite Cold Shoulder top in grey – Size 2XL – $24.49 – This top is super cute and soft. I liked that it was loose and had detailing without being too revealing.

This was a rayon/spandex blend so it has some stretch in it which I prefer.

Item 2: Shosho – Alyvia plaid leggings in black & white – Size 2X – $25.49 – These leggins are so soft and fleece lined.

We have received this brand in another pair of pants and the are my favorite pair of pants!

Item 3: Zenana Premium – Demi Dress in ash rose – Size 1X – $28.49 – This dress is plain and cute. It has a regular neckline and comfortable sleeves that came down just far enough. Pockets are always welcome in dresses! It wasn’t a bright orange, had more of a coral color.

The dress hit around the knee area. It had enough room without being oversized.

Item 4: Bracelet – Pammy in gold and silver – $12.19 – This bracelet is super cute! I typically don’t like this style because they can be hard to get on but once I did, it laid on my wrist perfectly.

Item 5: Gift Card – $20.00 gift card available for purchase for $8.49. Although this is a neat idea, I wish I would have received another clothing item in our bag.

I tried to take jewelry pieces off of my suggestions but it said at least one jewelry item needed to be included with each bag.

I have my settings set to very plain, functional items so that is maybe why I haven’t received much variety. I may change it up for my next purchase to see what they will send because I just feel like something is missing.

I do enjoy this subscription though and will use them again. If this is something you would be interested in, please use the link below. They will provide free shipping on your first bag.

Eby Underwear – Review #1

The Legal Disclosure: All product reviews are my own & products have been purchased by myself unless otherwise noted. The reviews will always be honest, full of respect & trust. Some posts may contain affiliate links which means that if you click on the link & make a purchase, I may be compensated (this is at no cost to you). If you would like to learn about how I do a product review or info about subscription services, please comment below or email me at esoterictartan@gmail.com.

Eby is a new monthly or quarterly subscription package for underwear by Sofia Vergara. I was really drawn to this company because of them empowering women & also the company going up to size 4X!

You are able to choose your style: Style Box 1 contains thongs (XS-XL) or g-strings (1X-4X). Style Box 2 contains briefs/cheekies (XS-XL) or briefs/bikinis (1X-4X). Style Box 3 is “some of each.” I chose Box 2. They also have a High-waisted option that is sold separately.

You are able to choose your color: Neutral Colors Only, Color/Print Colors Only, or Mixed Colors. I chose neutral colors only.

You choose your size from XS-4X. Typically I would be a 1X but while signing up, the notes said to size down from your typical size so I chose the XL. I wish I would NOT have sized down because they were too small. I think this is a matter of choice if you are on the smaller end of your size or not.

I had a free panty so I received two pairs in this package. Personally, I prefer only briefs but received two pairs of cheekies. I found out how to custom choose your style so see the end of the post for that option!

I will say, these are COMFORTABLE! The material made it feel like I didn’t have anything on (until they rolled down because they were too small). I truly was impressed.

The material is so incredibly soft with a cotton lining. The lining is an actual lining, not a small piece of fabric.

I wish I had a good way to describe the softness of the material but it is very different. Almost like a microfiber but softer. The lining around the edges is different as well but very soft and comfortable.

These would have been amazing if I would have just stayed true to my size. I found that you can choose a “CUSTOM” box in your settings and choose the exact style (g-string, brief, or bikini) & color (black, nude, grey, pink, turquoise, or Surprise Me!). I am having a 1X brief sent to me in a “surprise” color for my next box.

You can adjust your styles, colors, & sizes anytime you want on their website between the 1st & 27th of every month. You can even choose to skip a package if you want. I do think these are pricey but worth it to get a few at $16.00 per pair. High-waisted are $18.00 per pair but do not come in the subscription portion, only as an add-on.

If this is something you would like to try, please use my link below to receive 50% of a monthly Eby box.

Myro Deodorant – Review #1

Myro Deodorant is a monthly subscription for a natural deodorant. The website states “no aluminum, parabens, phthalates, or talc to mess with your day. Only clean ingredients, barley powder to keep you dry, and essential oils that release scent over time, not all at once. “

I’m going to say upfront, I am not a fan. I was very disappointed in this product and did not feel it was effective. It’s important to note, I have already made the switch from regular deodorant and went through the “aluminum detox” (if you want more details, please see the note at the bottom of the post & leave comments if you have questions). Everyone has different body chemistry & this is just my personal experience with this. The product may work for others.

The idea itself is neat. You get a starter kit and get to choose your case color and scent of your deodorant stick.

The card explains about the product and their guarantee. You have the option to send back one opened deodorant pod & any unused ones. I only had the one and did not want to take the time to send it back.

The box explains how to put the pod into the case so it works correctly.

You have a choice of color on the case. I chose this darker greenish blue which is called Slate. The also have a bright blue (Royal), red (Flame), light green (Moss), & peachy color (Blush).

The deodorant comes in five scents and I chose Big Dipper (bergamot, lavender, & vetiver). They also have Solar Flare (orange, juniper, & sunflower), Chill Wave (cucumber, jasmine, & spearmint), Pillow Talk (violet leaf, ylang ylang, & wild amyris), & Cabin #5 (vetiver, patchouli, & geranium).

The deodorant itself smells good. It goes on very smooth and almost has a minty clean feel on your skin.

Here is the problem: I would notice randomly throughout the day that I smelled really bad. It could be an 20 minutes after I put it on or five hours later. I wasn’t working out or sweating when this happened, just everyday life – working in an office, shopping, doing laundry, etc. Instead of stopping odor, it felt like it put a light barrier over the odor and then odor would seep out. I do NOT have this odor with other deodorants. Maybe this product just did not work with my body chemistry.

So far on the natural deodorant front, i have used Native & Brandless and thought they were both effective & really liked both brands. Myro unfortunately, was not for me. I have just started using Dr. Teal’s and we will see how that goes. I have a few other brands I’ve already purchased to try as well. Eventually, I will do a side by side comparison of all of them.

Different products work for different people and even though this didn’t work for me, I will link their website below. This is not a personal link.

https://www.mymyro.com

  • FYI: Natural deodorant is different than regular deodorant because it does not stop sweating. You WILL smell worse for about a week or more after you switch because of your body detoxing from the aluminum in regular deodorants.
  • I never feel it’s fair that a natural deodorant get a bad review if it’s the first time someone has used a product of that kind because of them not knowing about the detox period.
  • If you have any questions on natural deodorant, please leave them in the comments below and I will do my best to answer them.

Birchbox – ARROW 5 Minute Beauty Kit 2.0 – Review

I really wanted to try out the ARROW 5 Minute Beauty Kit 2.0 to see if this would really be a 5 Minute Kit. We often run late in the mornings and don’t have a lot of time to get ready but still want to wear some products. After trying this, I truly love this kit!

All of ARROW’s products are vegan & are paraben, gluten, & cruelty free. The six piece kit costs $18.00 & has a $57.00 value. All of these ARROW products are Birchbox Exclusives. https://www.birchbox.com/product/35851

Item 1: The makeup bag is made of a material that reminds me of a foam. It seems like a higher quality that won’t easily break.

Item 2: ARROW HYDRATE – Soothing Facial Mist – The sprayer on this works very well, so well I sprayed myself really hard in the face. It sprays out wide so you don’t have to use a lot to get coverage. This is going to be great when it is hot outside! Made in the USA.

Item 3: ARROW SCULPT – Tinted Brow Gel – This gel has a darker brown color which you can see a bit on the paper in the first picture below. Even though the container is small, the brush is still a regular size which is nice. Made in the USA.

Item 4: ARROW ENHANCE – Waterproof Eyeliner in Bright Now – This is interesting in it’s color but I really like it. It is the lightest shade of pink and has a shine to it which gives a brightening effect. Made in Germany.

Item 5: ARROW BOOST – Color Enhancing Lip Balm – The stick looks orange but goes on so smooth with a slight pink tint. It gives just the slightest bit of color which is perfect. Made in the USA.

Item 6: ARROW REVIVE – Cooling Cheek Tint in Berry Flush – This is such an interesting product. It comes out of the tube blood red but rubbed in really smoothly on the checks and blended well. I don’t know if it was actually supposed to have a cooling effect because I couldn’t feel that. This sample is super tiny but I am definitely purchasing this in the larger size. Made in the USA.

I think this is a perfect set for a teen or even an adult like me who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup. Everything in this kit goes together well. I felt put together after using it but didn’t feel like I stood out either which is what I prefer.

Kits are a great way to step out of your comfort zone and try new things without spending a ton of money on something to find out you don’t like it. Then you have times like these that you like the products so well, it lets you know that it’s worth it to buy the full size product.

If you would like to try out the Birchbox monthly subscription box, I would appreciate it if you used my link below.

Birchbox – The Skincare Made Easy Kit – Review

The Legal Disclosure: All product reviews are my own & products have been purchased by myself unless otherwise noted. The reviews will always be honest, full of respect & trust. Some posts may contain affiliate links which means that if you click on the link & make a purchase, I may be compensated (this is at no cost to you). Not all links are affiliate links but will post this on every linked page to be fully transparent. If you would like to learn about how I do a product review or info about subscription services, please comment below or email me at esoterictartan@gmail.com.

I ordered ‘The Skincare Made Easy Kit’ from Birchbox and I’m so excited about the products in it. The kit is no longer available but I’m going to individually link all of the products below. It was an incredible value at $22.00 with $56.00 worth of products.

I am one who is interested in trying different products but don’t always know how to use everything & wonder what order to use them in. I really wanted this kit because it came with so many products. The website stated this was “skincare 101” – “by starting with four simple steps (cleanse, treat, moisturize, and protect) and using the complementary products in this starter kit, we’re confident you can build a routine that works best for you.”

I’m going to go through everything that came in this kit and what step it falls under. Some steps came with more than one item to try for that particular step which is why I was so excited to get it.

There are a total of nine items plus the clear zipper makeup bag in this kit.

(Step 1: Cleanse) Item 1: Bioderma – Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution – Full-size $10.90-$14.90 – This is a no-rinse face & eye cleanser that is fragrance free & made for sensitive skin.
