Ipsy is a monthly beauty bag subscription that costs $10 (plus tax) per month. You receive an exclusive makeup bag and five travel-size items every month. Ipsy offers products such as perfume, hair care products, and make-up.

You can read the first two reviews here.

https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/17/ipsy-review-2/

Each month has a theme and April’s is Fresh Spring Beauty.

Here is a look at the five items plus the bag (the two masks were considered one item).

I adore the bag this month! It is so adorable with the lemon pattern.

Item 1: Tarte – Double Duty Beauty Base Tape Hydrating Primer – This hydrating primer is made to moisturize and smooth your skin for 12 hours. It is vegan and cruelty-free.

Item 2: Laura Sanchez – Moods Eyeshadow in Rose Gold Woman – We received a full palette from Laura Sanchez in our Glam Bag Plus and my teens love these shades (see here: https://esoterictartan.com/2019/04/13/ipsy-glam-bag-plus-review-1/).

Item 3: Sugar Cosmetics – Kohl of Honour INtense Kajal in Black Out – This is a nice eyeliner that goes on smoothly. It is transfer-resistant , smudge-proof, & waterproof.

Item 4: Billion Dollar Brushes – Fan Brush – This brush has “charcoal-infused bristles with antimicrobial powers.” The brush is super soft.

Item 5 (Part 1 of 2): Huangjisoo – Broccoli Plumping Mask – I’ve not had a chance to try these vegan masks. This mask is packed with vitamin C, beta carotene, and broccoli extracts for plumping and hydrating the skin.

Item 5 (Part 1 of 2): Huangjisoo – Red Fruits Brightening Mask – This vegan mask is made with acerola and redlove apple to brighten and even out dull skin.

My kids and I still love the Ipsy bags. We have the Ipsy profile geared more towards what they love with the more adventurous make-up and colors.

Ipsy has their own app so you can preview the items you are going to receive and purchase items directly from the app. They also offer a points system to earn free sample size products. You can earn points by reviewing your items every month and also earn points for referrals. They have products for purchase on their website as well. points for referrals. Socks Matter is a monthly sock subscription where you receive two pairs of socks for $12. When you tag the company on social media, they sometimes will include an extra pair of socks in your order.

You can read my first two reviews here.
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/02/23/socks-matter-review-1/
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/24/socks-matter-review-2/

I tag the company on Twitter as I don’t use Instagram.

We received three awesome pairs this month.

Pair 1: No show women’s – White and Navy blue with an anchor – These have a good no slip mark on the back of the heel.

Pair 2: These are a men’s crew sock and look like the coins from Mario.

Pair 3: Women’s crew sock with random patterns.

We have tried a few sock subscriptions & I still think this one has the best value. My kids and I always love the Socks Matter packages and know we are going to like everything in them.

If this is something you would be interested in, please click the link below. By using this link, we will each get a free pair.

Little Passports – USA Edition – Review #1

Little Passports is a monthly subscription geared towards kids that provides “Award-winning monthly kits feature geography, science, world cultures & more.”

This review will be specifically for the USA Edition that is geared towards ages 7-12. My daughter is 10 and is a great age for this specific Edition.

This comes in a cute plastic portfolio to keep all of your stuff in.

This is the starter kit so it focuses on the United States of America as a whole instead of a specific state.

The characters, Sam & Sofia, go with you as you travel the United States.

You receive your U.S. Field Guide that help you keep track of places you will go.

Here are a couple of the interior pages.

You get a large map of America to help you keep track of where you have been.

The USA Scratch Book comes with a scratch pencil and has some neat activities.

There are scratch stickers and you learn about some of the Symbols of the USA.

There are also pages about our National Parks and you learn about Tornado Alley.

I think this is a neat kit and my daughter will enjoy it. I felt the starter kit was lacking a little and could have come with another item or two for the kids to enjoy.

It would be nice if the World Edition & USA Edition were on par as far as ages go since the World Edition goes to age 10 and the USA Edition goes to age 12. It seems those numbers should be reversed. This USA Edition starts at $14.95 per month.

Little Passports – World Edition – Review #1

Little Passports is a monthly subscription geared towards kids that provides “Award-winning monthly kits feature geography, science, world cultures & more.”

This review will be specifically for the World Edition that is geared towards ages 6-10. My daughter is 10 and she was excited to see what was coming in this set.

Since this is the first package, it is themed for the World, not a specific country. You receive items in this package that are the starters such as this blue case that you will only receive the one time.

The kit comes with a card telling you about your starter kit and what to expect in future shipments.

One neat thing is the whole backstory for the characters, Sam & Sofia, that you are “traveling” with each month.

There is a luggage tag and stickers to start you off and you will receive new ones with each country you go to.

There is quite a bit in here and has a lot of neat stuff.

The Worldwide Activities booklet has some fun games.

There are more activities in the booklet themed to learning about our planet.

You receive a world postcard.

Next up is your very own passport!

Inside the passport has some neat interactive questions for your child.

You receive this neat hard cardboard country coin collection tray.

You even receive a world coin to start you off.

There is a cute little set of squishy animals from around the world.

Last but not least, your child gets a world map. They will receive stickers every month to put on the map to show where they have traveled. The map is quite large and my daughter was excited about it.

I think this is a really neat way for kids to explore the world and learn about other places. There was quite a bit of reading to do with this first set. Focus wise, I feel this would be good to start around the age of 8 or so. The USA Edition goes up to age 12 and I feel like the ages should be reversed for the World & USA Editions.

I really think this is a great subscription that starts at $16.95 per month.

Little Passports – Science Expeditions – Review #1

Little Passports is a monthly subscription geared towards kids that provides “Award-winning monthly kits feature geography, science, world cultures & more.”

This review will be specifically for the Science Expeditions which is geared towards ages 9+. My daughter is 10 and loves science so this was perfect for her to try.

This comes with a branded reusable bag and all the supplies to go with the theme of Forensic Science.

There is quite of bit of stuff in this kit after you open everything.

You receive a Forensic Science Comic, Lab Notebook, Fingerprint Analysis Card, and a booklet of Science Experiments.

Close up of the Fingerprint Analysis Card and inside of the Lab Notebook.

Close up of the Comic which goes through why you are performing these specific experiments. I thought this was pretty cool since it makes the story interactive.

The booklet lists the experiments/steps to be performed. NOTE: You may have to purchase some items in order to complete the experiments if you do not already have them.

This is the kit that has all of the needed equipment for the experiments.

My daughter really enjoyed the experiments in this kit and was able to complete them on her own. The science kits starts at $18.95 per month and includes all needed equipment. I felt it was a good value for the cost.

When you log into your account, it shows what the upcoming months will be: May: Pinball Machine; June: Kaleidoscope Science; & July: Roller Coaster Physics. You have the option to pause subscriptions and even if you cancel, you can restart where you left off later.

Foot Cardigan – Review #1

Foot Cardigan is a monthly sock subscription that is available for men, women, and children. My kids love socks so we have tried several sock subscriptions.

We chose to try the Houdini’s (no show socks) in Women’s.

The company has a fun attitude which I always appreciate.

The socks were cute and my teen immediately took them.

The back of the sock had a good no slip liner and my teen said they did stay in place.

I really like this company although I think $12.00 per month is a bit steep to only receive one pair in the monthly subscription.

They do have some good collaborations though such as Harry Potter, Mean Girls, and The Simpsons. If you are looking for unique socks as a gift, they definitely have some neat and unique products.

Birchbox May 2019 Spoilers Released – Review

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box for beauty products (Birchbox Men’s also available). I am so excited for the May 2019 box! I keep saying that BIRCHBOX has quickly become my favorite subscription box for the products they offer and you will be able to see why in the sneak peeks below!

Typically for your monthly subscription box, you have three choices of boxes but for May you will have four! The selections open on 04/26 and the curated boxes tend to go fast.

You can choose a sample and the rest Birchbox chooses, Curated Box 1, or Curated Box 2. This month, they added the Skincare Made Easy Kit as a box option that I reviewed here:
https://esoterictartan.com/2019/03/30/birchbox-the-skincare-made-easy-kit-review/

Option 1: Choose of the three Sample Choice Options (and the rest of the box items as mystery items): jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain in Forever Pink, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, & Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle.

Option 2: Curated Box 1: Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator, amika Velveteen Dream Smoothing Balm, Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray, Lipstick Queen Mornin’ Sunshine Lipstick, & Marcelle Xtension Plus Skyline Mascara.

Option 3: Curated Box 2: Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer – Doe My Dear, Moroccanoil Treatment Light – 1.7 oz., Real Chemistry Environmental Rescue Daily Serum, beautyblender beauty.blusher cheeky, Grande Cosmetics GrandeLIPS HydraPlump Plumping Liquid Lipstick, & Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Liquid Face Highlighter

Option 4: The Skincare Made Easy Kit: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye, Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution – 500 ml, Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment, Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel, Acure Radically Rejuvenating™ Sheet Mask, Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment – 1.7 oz., HUM Nutrition Glow Sweet Glow Gummies, COOLA® Classic Moisturizer SPF 30 – Cucumber, PETER THOMAS ROTH Water Drench® Hyaluronic Cloud Cream – This kit is no longer available to purchase separately since they have an updated kit so I believe this is last chance on this one!

Normally I just review after I receive the products but I was so excited when I saw the preview today! Typically I have just chose and sample and let Birchbox fill in the rest because they do such an amazing job but I love all of these options! I would even take a 2nd Skincare Made Easy Kit because it has such good products that I have put to use!

KidBox – Review #2

The Legal Disclosure: All product reviews are my own & products have been purchased by myself unless otherwise noted. The reviews will always be honest, full of respect & trust. KidBox is a seasonal clothing subscription for children that does not charge a styling fee. We loved our first box so much that we decided to order another one.

You can read my first review here: https://esoterictartan.com/category/kidbox/

Each each box comes with a kids newspaper, stickers, crayons, a plastic pouch, and a free item (this season it is temporary tattoos). All of these items are for your child to keep whether you keep the clothing or not.

Each box comes with a sheet that tells you how much all of your items cost individually without a discount and then the cost per item if you keep the entire box. All of their kids boxes have a “keep it all” price of $98. Their baby boxes are even less at $68. Also, when you keep an entire box, KIDBOX donates new clothing to children in need. They gave us four charities to choose from to donate to.

All boxes let you know about the good that the company is doing and explains how to give back. When you keep your entire box, KIDBOX donates clothing.

We received a total of eight items in this box.

Item 1: Justice – Girls Rainbow Sequins Fanny Pack in Blue – Retail Price $14.90 – KidBox price $11.00 – This is a fanny pack (or bum bag as it is called overseas) that has reversible sequins. It also has an adjustable strap so it will fit different sizes.

Here is a view of the sequins flipped on half of the bag – half silver, half pastel rainbow.

Item 2: DKNY – Girls Hipster Hem & Release Short – Size 12 – Retail Price $29.50 – KidBox Price $23.00 – These shorts are super cute and I love how it looks like at the seam on the bottom on the shorts. There is stretch in the material of these which always helps things fit better (made of Cotton, Polyester, & Spandex). The pockets on the front are not real pockets.

Item 3: Derek Heart – Girls Floral Twist Front Tank – Size L14 – Retail Price $30.00 – KidBox Price $22.00 – This tank is so cute and soft ! It has a twist on the front bottom which gives it detail without adding bulk. I like that the shoulder width is wider so the top can be worn to school as well. It looks a little short in the front but did not show her stomach. It still has to be worn over a tank though because it comes down a little lower in the underarm area.

Item 4: 7 For All Mankind – Girls Distressed Bermuda – Size 12 – Retail Price $45.00 – KidBox Price $34.00 – These are cute with a little bit of stretch. I like that these shorts have the distressed look but have material behind it so they are appropriate to wear.

Item 5: Justice – Girls Camo Varsity Tee – Size 14/16 – Retail Price $19.90 – KidBox Price $14.00 – This short is super cute and something we probably wouldn’t have picked out on our own which is why I like these boxes. It is white with silver lettering (the picture looks grey but it is bright white). The material is thin so it does need to be worn with a tank top.

Item 6: Kids Club – Girls Khaki Short – Size 12 – Retail Price $28.00 – KidBox Price $21.00 – These shorts are cute and almost look yellow rather a true khaki color. They don’t have much stretch but do have an adjustable waist.

These short were made specifically for KidBox and have a hook & eye closure.

Item 7: For All Seasons – Girls Cold Shoulder Top in Grey – Size 14 – Retail Price $24.00 – KidBox price $18.00 – The saying is “Sing with Mermaids, Ride a Unicorn” in black and gold. The material is so incredibly soft & bells out towards the bottom for more room.

Item 8: BCBG – Girls Knit Floral Ruffle Dress in Blue – Size 14 – Retail Price $48.00 – KidBox Price $33.00 – My daughter loved this dress and the feel of it because it is so soft. The straps are adjustable which is nice and a unique feature. The back has the same ruffles as the front.

The material is very thin so a tank top and solid undergarments would need to be worn so they don’t show through.

My daughter and I were both very pleased with this box. The Retail total of this box is $239.30. If you keep the entire box, it will only cost $98.00 which is a discount of $141.30 which would make it $12.25 per item.

I am very pleased with the curation of this box and my daughter wants to keep everything. If this is something you would like to try for you child, please use my link below and we will both receive $25.00 off of a box.

Bespoke Post is a monthly subscription box for men. Their website states that is “Helping modern men in their search for better goods and good guidance.” Besides their subscription box, they also have a store full of goods to purchase.

I was drawn to this box because they have unique items that you don’t see at every store. You can let them choose your box or you can choose it yourself. I chose the “Terra” box as a gift for my brother. This particular box comes with three items.

This cards comes with the box to tell about the items you are getting.

The three items are an Audubon Bird Call, Detox Scrub Bar, & The Ultimate Tool knife.

Item 1: Base Light – Detox Scrub Bar in Gold Moss & Activated Charcoal – This smells amazing! I like that it comes in a neat little fabric pouch. The soap is free of sulfates, synthetic dyes, parabens, & phthalates. Made in the USA.

Item 2: American Bird Products – Audubon Bird Call – This is a handmade bird call which is something just neat and a little bit different. I believe the pill thing is something to keep away moisture since this has a birch cylinder.

Item 3: Barebones – The Ultimate Tool – This was the main reason for buying this box for my brother. I thought it was super neat. Check out all of these pictures. The only downfall is that is made in China.

The protective pouch has a belt clip.

Instructions are included for Cleaning & Maintenance.

This company designs products to “Elevate Life Outdoors.”

The is a one piece stainless steel construction with both straight & serrated edges.

The blade includes a bottle opener and is able to cut twine.

The handle is made of bamboo. The end of the handle can function as a mallet.

I was really pleased with this company and think they have some really unique items.

If this is something you would like to try, please use the link below and we will both receive $20.00 off on a future order.

Birchbox has quickly became my favorite monthly subscription box! They really have great brands and products that I have wanted to try and I truly get excited when I see their monthly curated boxes.

You can read my previous reviews of the Birchbox subscription boxes here:

All boxes are coded since there are a few different boxes they send every month. This particular box is coded 38826 and included a free bonus product.

This box included six items plus a freebie I signed up for so I received seven products in total. Look at these brands: Sunday Riley, Oribe, Ouai, Marcelle, Love of Color, Peter Thomas Roth, & Benefit Cosmetics!

Item 1: Love of Color – Liquid Shimmer Shadow in Eclipse – Full-size price $10.00 – This is a long-lasting crease-free liquid shadow that is metallic rose gold. This is a Birchbox EXCLUSIVE! It is cruelty & paraben free. https://www.birchbox.com/product/30859

Item 2: Marcelle – City Multi-Protection Tinted Cream SPF 25 in Fair – Full-size $22.00 – I have put a small swatch of the cardboard below. This product is really creamy but I have not used it yet so I don’t know how well it protects.
https://www.birchbox.com/product/31508

100% paraben & oil free. Made in Canada.

Item 3: Oribe – Dry Texturizing Spray – Full-size $46.00 – I was so excited when I realized that this product was going to be in our monthly box. It is part dry shampoo and part texturizer that absorbs oil, softens hair, & adds shine. Paraben, phthalate, sulfate, & cruelty free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2UxmbCY

Item 4: OUAI – Volume Spray – Travel-size $12.00 – This ia a heat protectant that adds body to your hair. I currently have this brand of Leave-In Conditioner and the smell is exactly the same which I like. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2IiELrH

Item 5: Peter Thomas Roth – Potent-C Bright & Plump Moisturizer – Full-size $68.00 – I haven’t tried this yet as I’m working through other products. I have some of their other products & really like this brand though. This particular moisturizer is supposed to be lightweight, diminish fine lines, boost elasticity, and lock in hydration. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2G3riQY

Item 6: Sunday Riley – Luna Retinol Sleeping Night Oil – Full-size $105.00 – This is a retinol oil that reduces the appearance of pores, wrinkles, & redness over time. It is Blue Tansy and will go from a deep blue color to clear. Paraben, phthalate, sulfate, & cruelty free. Made in the USA. https://amzn.to/2X78nvy

Item 7: BONUS ITEM – Benefit Cosmetics – GALifornia Sunny Golden Pink Blush Mini – Mini-price $16.00 – I was able to add this on as a free bonus product in my box. It comes with a mini brush and has a mirror in the box. https://amzn.to/2GjMlA6

The box and brush are just beautiful! Made in the USA.

Birchbox recently restructured their prices in March of 2019. The new monthly cost will be $13.00 for existing subscribers & $15.00 for new subscribers. With the company changing their pricing structure, they are also bringing more choices & new brands. I still think that this box is an incredible value for the curated products.

I truly have been impressed with the quality and value of the products from Birchbox. If this is something you would like to try, please use my link below.
